16th of October 2019 marks another successful event as i2M Ventures Sdn. Bhd. officially launched the Blockchain Village at Medini (BVAM) today to further support the growth of blockchain ecosystem in Malaysia.

i2M Ventures managing director Zulfiqar Zainuddin said BVAM was aimed at developing the blockchain ecosystem in Medini City to provide service providers with the platform to further develop their technology and encourage market adoption. An extension of the GBS Iskandar programmes, BVAM are expected to generate RM562 million investment and to bring in 1,200 high-value and knowledge-based jobs by 2022 besides generating new investments in Medini.

The first for Malaysia, BVAM will serve as the central hub in promoting blockchain technology in the country, drive innovation and develop the required talent for this emerging sector with four (4) core strategic areas – Talent, Infrastructure, Promotion and Policy.

Gracing the event was Menteri Besar of Johor, Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal who also officiated BVAM. Commenting on the launch, YAB Dato' Dr Sahruddin Jamal said BVAM is there to give a helping hand in achieving Johor’s strategic Intents of the ten-year sustainable development plan for the creation of High Value, High Technology and High Impact economy.

Also, we would like to welcome three new blockchain companies into Medini, Singapore based companies - Blockon Ventures Sdn. Bhd. and Nexuslabs Sdn. Bhd. as well as iCycle Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. As more companies are adopting blockchain into their business, OK Blockchain of Japan, a pioneer of blockchain in Medini City and Malaysia, too, took this opportunity to celebrate the graduation of their employees trained in blockchain technology through the GBS ISKANDAR’s Campus Connect Initiative, a partnership between Industry Players and Academia facilitated by i2M.
