Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal has urged people in the state to make Visit Johor Year 2020 a success by practising a tourist-friendly culture and keeping the state clean.
He hoped that everyone would show good values, like greeting tourists with a warm smile and being helpful.
“I hope no one will take advantage of tourists as it will put Johor in a bad light.
“To e-hailing drivers, please promote the state so that more tourists will come.”
He said the state government aimed to promote 20 main destinations and 20 interesting events.
He was speaking after launching the logo and mascot for Visit Johor Year 2020 at Paradigm Mall here.
Present was state Tourism and Women, Family and Community Development Committee chairman Liow Cai Tung.
Johor has set a target of 17.4 million tourists, including 8.4 million overnight visitors, for Visit Johor Year 2020.
The Visit Johor Year 2020 logo features the gambus to promote the state as an interesting destination.
The choice of the traditional musical instrument, which often accompanies zapin performances, shows the state’s determination to preserve its unique and colourful cultural heritage.
The Malayan tiger named Joh, which is shortened from Johor, has been chosen as the mascot for Visit Johor Year 2020.
