JOHOR BARU: LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort announced the development of a new attraction that will be built at the theme park. Sea Life Malaysia, a two-storey aquarium, 2123m2 is scheduled to open in Q4 2018 and will be located in the vicinity of other LEGOLAND attractions.

“We are very excited to welcome Sea Life to LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort, the top family destination in Asia. Children will get to interact with the sea creatures up-close and learn about their natural habitats. This is the first family resort in the country to offer interactive and educational marine life experience,” said Kurt Stocks, General Manager at LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort.

This standalone marine complex is a local venture for international aquarium brand Sea Life, which owns over 50 attractions worldwide. The brand aims to take you on a journey from the riverbanks into the depths of the ocean, with exhibits designed with an educational focus. Sea Life Malaysia will have more than 25 display tanks in 11 habitat zones with thousands of marine creatures.

As a local brand twist, Sea Life Malaysia will have a local ecological environment, taking cues from our natural rainforest which will be replicated into its own attraction zone.

Also present for the launch was State Tourism, Trade and Consumerism Committee Chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong who said LEGOLAND Malaysia had allocated RM50 million to complete the first phase of the project. Other guests at the groundbreaking ceremony included, Tourism Malaysia Director-General, Datuk Seri Mirza Mohammad Taiyab and Themed Attraction Resort and Hotel Group CEO Amir.
