JOHOR BARU: The Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) has designated a second "clean zone", in line with its initiative for a cleaner and sustainable city centre.

City mayor Amran A. Rahman said that the areas identified for the second clean zone were within a 600m radius from the Johor Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) along Jalan Trus here.

The Clean Zone programme was first implemented in Stulang Laut.

He said that the council has taken several measures to get traders and city-dwellers on board the programme.

"With the cooperation of Think City, we have conducted upgrading works at several back alleys including near Jalan Dhoby, Jalan Tan Hiok Neen and Jalan Trus," he said.

He told this to reporters after launching the Clean Zone programme by Johor Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Md Jais Sarday, who also visited the Heritage Building conservation project site here on Monday (Feb 26).
