DHL sets up global centre of excellence in Iskandar Malaysia

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Germany-based DHL has set up a global centre of excellence (GCOE) in Iskandar Malaysia – the first for the company in the country.

The centre provides supply chain consultancy services and support businesses that design logistics solutions for key industries in the economic growth corridor.

The key industries include automotive, energy, engineering and manufacturing, life sciences, and healthcare technology.

DHL’s global fast growing enterprise and regional head, customer solutions and innovation for Asia-Pacific president Alfred Goh said the centre would bring Iskandar Malaysia’s supply chain capabilities up to those of other logistics hubs in the region.

Goh said the centre would help Iskandar Malaysia align its logistics investments with global demand and market forces more closely than ever before.

The manufacturing and production industries in the economic growth corridor would need increasingly efficient, flexible and scalable supply chain for future economic development.

In 2007, DHL established the supply chain centre of excellence in Singapore which delivered multi-million dollar returns within its first 36 months of operation.

The Iskandar Malaysia GCOE will be operational in the second quarter of this year.
